The tour starts in Casablanca, where travelers typically visit the beautiful Hassan II Mosque before heading inland towards Morocco's cultural hub. The tour typically stops in Rabat, the capital city, and the old city of Fes, where travelers spend time exploring centuries-old medinas and busy souks.
The tour proceeds through the Middle Atlas Mountains and into the stunning Sahara Desert, where camel trekking and overnighting in traditional Berber camps under the starry sky are possible. 4-DAY Tour Itinerary: cacablanca to marrakech
Day 1: Casablanca ➝ Rabat ➝ Fes
Your travels begin with a pick-up in Casablanca, where you see the renowned Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest and most wonderfully placed mosques in the world. From there, you’ll travel to Rabat, the capital city of Morocco, for a brief tour of its key landmarks, including the Royal Palace, Hassan Tower, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V. The route then continues inland to Fes, the spiritual and cultural heart of Morocco. After a scenic drive, you’ll check into a traditional riad or hotel in the historic medina of Fes, where you’ll spend the night.
Day 2: Fes ➝ Ifrane ➝ Midelt ➝ Merzouga (Sahara Desert)
After breakfast, you leave Fes and drive south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. You drive through Ifrane, which is occasionally referred to as "Little Switzerland" due to its Alpine buildings, and through the cedar forests of Azrou, which have resident wild Barbary macaques. Continuing through the town of Midelt, nestled between mountain ranges, you’ll arrive in the vast Ziz Valley and eventually reach Merzouga, on the edge of the Sahara Desert. In the late afternoon, you’ll embark on a camel trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, arriving at a traditional desert camp in time to watch the sunset. Starry night dinner and music, followed by an overnight stay in your tented camp.
Day 3: Merzouga ➝ Todra Gorges ➝ Dades Valley
Early morning to experience the dawn over the dunes before heading back to Merzouga on camel or 4x4. After breakfast, journey through desert villages and dry plains to the breathtaking Todra Gorges. You'll have time to walk along the canyon walls or just drift down the river. The trip then continues to the Dades Valley, which features palm oases, rock outcroppings, and scenic roads. You'll stay in a hotel or guesthouse in the valley, where you'll dine and spend the night.
Day 4: Dades Valley ➝ Ait Ben Haddou ➝ High Atlas Mountains ➝ Marrakech
On the final day, you’ll travel from the Dades Valley to Ouarzazate, known as the "Hollywood of Morocco" for its film studios and desert landscapes. A major highlight is the visit to Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and ancient fortified village that has served as the backdrop for many famous films and series. The route then climbs through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, offering panoramic views and photo stops. By late afternoon or early evening, you’ll arrive in Marrakech, where the tour ends with drop-off at your hotel or riad.
