Location

Ourika Valley lies within the High Atlas Mountains, around 30 km south-east of Marrakech. It's one of the most popular day-trip locations from the city, and one that offers a welcome respite into the great outdoors

The valley is famous for its lush green landscape, winding river, and traditional Berber villages. Travelers can enjoy the fresh mountain air, small waterfalls, and picturesque walking paths. It is also known for saffron fields and perfumed gardens

Getting There

It takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour by car, taxi, or minibus from Marrakech. Several tourists prefer booking guided day tours for a hassle-free trip to the valley

Nature & Wildlife

The Ourika River flows through the valley, watering orchards and terraced fields. Walnut, cherry, and almond trees are planted here, and traditional Berber families and a variety of birdlife live here.

Hike in the valley, visit waterfalls, explore Berber villages, or just chill by the river.

Traditional Moroccan tagines and mint tea are served at the riverfront restaurants. Small guesthouses are also available.

Best Time to Visit

Spring (March–May) and Autumn (September–November) for pleasant weather. Peak but busier in Summer.
